Student Government and Initiatives
Student self-government is an effective form of participation by higher education students in university administration, the protection of their rights and interests, the development of student initiatives, and the creation of a modern university environment. It is based on the principles of voluntariness, openness, democracy, elections, collegiality, and equal rights for all students.
Student self-governance at Uman National University operates at several levels: the university level, the faculty level, the academic group level, and the student dormitory level.
At the university level, there is the University Student Conference and the University Student Self-Governance Council.
Student life is not just about studying; it is also an opportunity to bring your own ideas to life, influence the university’s development, gain practical management experience, and work as part of a team of like-minded individuals. It is for this very purpose that Uman National University has established the Student Self-Governance Council—an executive body that represents the interests of students and promotes the development of an active student community.
The Student Self-Governance Council is an important component of the university’s governance system. It ensures constructive dialogue between students and the administration, participates in discussions on current issues in university life, initiates new projects, and supports student initiatives. Its activities are based on the principles of voluntarism, democracy, openness, collegiality, equal rights for students, and their active participation in decision-making.
The Council’s primary mission is to represent the interests of the student body and create favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of young people. Council members participate in improving the educational process, promote scientific, cultural, athletic, volunteer, and civic activities, support social initiatives, and help students bring their own ideas and projects to life.
The Student Self-Government Council coordinates the activities of student self-government bodies at the faculty and dormitory levels, ensuring the unity of student self-government across the university. It interacts with the administration, local government bodies, youth organizations, and student associations at other institutions of higher education, fostering partnerships and the exchange of experiences.
Being a member of the Student Self-Governance Council means being an active participant in the university’s development. It is an opportunity to realize your own potential and gain experience in teamwork, project management, event organization, communication, and leadership. It is here that student initiatives are born, socially significant projects are implemented, university traditions are formed, and a modern educational environment is created.
Uman National University supports students’ active civic engagement and invites everyone to join the activities of the student self-government bodies. After all, it is active, responsible, and engaged students who are the driving force behind positive change and the future of the university community.
