About the University
Uman National University (UNU) is an institution of higher education that, over the course of its 180-year history, has developed well-established and enduring traditions: an innovative approach and a commitment to educational quality, a high level of patriotism and employer-oriented focus, constant progress among like-minded individuals who value experience, and a willingness to work for the development of the Motherland.
The achievement of these principles is facilitated by the consistently high professionalism of the university’s staff, a focus on academic freedom and student-centeredness, a scientific approach, and the practical application of research findings.
The concept of the university functioning as an educational and scientific center is realized through an extensive network of structural units that implement the institution’s development strategy and ensure the delivery of educational and formative activities. These include:

The university offers degree programs:
- Bachelor’s degrees—in 51 programs;
- master’s degrees—under 53 educational programs;
- doctor of philosophy degrees—under 15 educational programs.
The university operates 12 research schools and publishes the “Collection of Scientific Papers of Uman National University of Horticulture” (Category B), a specialized journal in economic and agricultural disciplines, the “Bulletin of Uman National Agrarian University” (Category B), collections of scientific works by young scholars, student research papers, and conference proceedings. In 2024, there were two permanent specialized academic councils for awarding the degree of Doctor of Science, established in accordance with Order No. 530 of the Ministry of Education and Science dated June 6, 2022, for a term of three years, as well as 12 ad hoc specialized academic councils. Specialized Council D 74.844.01 operates in the following fields: 06.01.07—Fruit Growing; 06.01.15—Primary Processing of Plant Products; and Agricultural Sciences. Specialized Council D 74.844.04 operates in the fields of 06.01.05—plant breeding and seed production—and 06.01.06—vegetable growing—within the agricultural sciences.
Students and faculty have access to a library equipped with modern information resources, featuring reading rooms with 220 seats and a collection of over 260,000 volumes of educational, scientific, and literary works.
To enhance the effectiveness of research activities and promote the commercialization of research outcomes, the university operates 23 educational and research laboratories.
The university’s international activities are carried out under 38 cooperation agreements with foreign educational institutions, as well as through scholarship programs and grants. Every year, faculty and students participate in internships at leading universities and research centers in Europe.
The main coordinating center for student development at the university is the Center for Student Culture and Development, whose specialists develop and implement new directions for the development and improvement of extracurricular activities for students. For their high artistic skill and professionalism, seven of the Center’s creative groups have been awarded the honorary title of “People’s.”
Every year, the university’s students actively participate in sports competitions at various levels, consistently placing as prize winners and champions.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of its staff, the University has achieved significant results, for which it has been duly recognized with numerous awards.
